what is upsell and cross sell ?

let’s say you go to a shop to buy a computer for your home and the salesperson explains all the options to you nicely

you decide to purchase one for , say , X

at the end of the sale , they decide to offer you some accessories ( like a mouse , or a spill proof keyboard or a laptop bag for a small amount extra or some cables for connecting your laptop to your large home tv ) – this is called cross sell

same is the case of when you go to a fast food restaurant and they offer you to upgrade your burger with a coffee instead of soda or an extra french fries for a small amount

an upsell is when the store tries to sell you a higher price product – with some extra benefits –

either way it is a good selling technique to learn to increase your sales ..
