what today’s resumes lack , as per a career expert

… 99% of the jobseekers write their CV backwards.

It’s how so many applicants make their CV look like a Wikipedia page (focus on the past) rather than a marketing document (focus on the future).

To get in the top 1%, you as a jobseeker need to be different.

You need to stop thinking of your CV as a record of your experience and qualifications.

Instead, start thinking like a hiring manager.

Here’s what hiring managers usually appreciate in a CV:

→ “All this is very relevant to what the team needs at the moment”.

→ “Finally, evidence of previous successful performance with results”.

→ “I can see how our role could be a good next step for them”.

How you can use it when writing your CV:

→ Make sure only the experience the employer cares about makes the cut.

→ Show, don’t tell you’ve got a good track record.

→ Focus on what you can (and want to) do next.

All it takes is to bring the right information (aka your career highlights) front and center to the employer’s attention.

What you do best = what the employer needs.

Your CV is whatever you make it, so make it a forward-looking one.
